Baseball Recap: Florida Christian Picks Up Third Straight Win at Home

Florida Christian won the last time they faced Somerset Academy and things went their way on Thursday too. Florida Christian walked away with a 5-2 win over Somerset Academy. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Patriots.

Florida Christian got a great performance from Jacob Lopez as he tossed 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Andres Pasternac, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Sanchez, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Florida Christian pushed their record up to 10-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Somerset Academy, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

Coming up, Florida Christian will host Springstead at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Springstead's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Florida Christian's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Somerset Academy, they will take on Calvary Christian Academy in a tournament on Monday.
