Volleyball Recap: Danville Wins Going Away Against Lucas

Danville hadn't done well against Lucas recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Blue Devils blew past the Cubs 3-0. That three set margin sets a new team best for the Blue Devils this season.

Danville not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Lucas between 15 and 18 points across their sets. The final score came out to 25-15, 25-18, 25-18.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Danville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kenzi Staats, who had 23 assists and three digs. Staats is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 23 or more in each of the last six games she's played. Emma Payne was another key player, getting four aces and three digs.

Danville was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in three consecutive matchups.

When it comes to explaining why Lucas lost, don't look at Lila Melton. Despite the final result, she had 15 digs and three aces. Arya Ohm also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Danville's record now sits at 7-9. As for Lucas, they dropped their record down to 2-14 with the defeat, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.

Danville has already played their next game, a 3-0 loss against Loudonville on the 23rd. As for Lucas, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Shelby on the 22nd.
