Softball Game Preview: Texas City Stingarees vs. Angleton Wildcats

Texas City is 0-10 against Angleton since May of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. Texas City will host Angleton at 6:30 p.m. Texas City has given up an average of 6.7 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Texas City came up short against Santa Fe on Tuesday, falling 14-4. That's two games in a row now that the Stingarees have lost by exactly ten runs.

Meanwhile, Angleton waltzed into their game on Tuesday with nine straight wins... but they left with ten. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Mustangs. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted since April 16, 2024.

Bella Nava looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lily Calderon, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Brooklynn Walton, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Angleton's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Texas City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-7-1.
