Softball Recap: Lehman Comes Up Short

Lehman fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Hays on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Hays Hawks by a score of 13-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Lobos have suffered since March 2, 2024.

Gabriella Gabriel was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Sophia Adame also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Lehman has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11-1 record this season. The victory (which was Hays' fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lehman will head out to face off against Lockhart at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lehman has given up an average of 6.6 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Hays, they will venture away from home to square off against Cedar Park at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
