The Bethlehem Central Eagles will face off against the Colonie Central Wolfpack at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing isn't great for Bethlehem Central: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Colonie Central has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road.
Bethlehem Central came into this matchup off a tough 12-run defeat on Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Christian Brothers Academy by a score of 3-1 on Monday.
Bethlehem Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sam Spector, who went 1-for-2 with one run. Gavin Martin also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, Colonie Central hadn't done well against Shenendehowa recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Wolfpack put the hurt on the Plainsmen with a sharp 8-2 victory. That six run margin sets a new team best for the Wolfpack this season.
Tyler Bilka was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Bilka was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with one home run and three RBI.
In other pitching news, Riley Brooks looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Cam Frazier, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Nate Figueroa, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run.
Bethlehem Central's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Colonie Central, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.
Bethlehem Central came out on top in a nail-biter against Colonie Central in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 11-10. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Wolfpack have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
