Southwestern dropped their record down to 7-5 on Saturday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Silver Creek Dragons, falling 12-0. The Rebels were red-hot at the plate heading into the matchup (they scored no less than ten runs in the three games prior), but the Dragons' pitchers proved too tough.

As for Silver Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games.

For Silver Creek's part, they got a great performance from Hudson Garten as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave Garten a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Spencer Durham, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Grant, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one run.

Southwestern wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 7-1 victory against Switzerland County on the 28th. As for Silver Creek, they will be playing at home against Charlestown at 6:00 p.m. on the 5th.
