Baseball Recap: Franklin County Comes Up Short

Franklin County dropped to 10-11 on Tuesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They lost 10-3 to the Aucilla Christian Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-3 back in February.

Nolan Alford made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

As for Aucilla Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games.

On Aucilla Christian's side, Wiley Barfield and Caleb Walker made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Barfield pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Walker pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Barfield went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI, while Walker went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That home run was Barfield's first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cooper Wiles, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Gavin Thompson also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Looking ahead, Franklin County will take on Rickards at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Aucilla Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
