Basketball Recap: Sparks Railroaders vs. North Valleys Panthers
Sparks was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were beaten by the North Valleys Panthers 56-19. While losing is never fun, the Railroaders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while the Panthers are ranked sixth).
Several Railroaders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bailey Hunden, who posted six points. Shea Patterson was another key player, putting up six points and five rebounds.
Ivy Williams was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 12 boards for North Valleys. Williams is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Annika Hester, who put up 16 points.
Sparks' defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for North Valleys, the win was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-3.
The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: North Valleys beat Sparks by a score of 58-28 on Friday.
