Manti and Summit Academy are an even 4-4 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Templars will take on the Bears in a tournament on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Manti is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Thursday. They put the hurt on American Leadership Academy with a sharp 13-1 victory. The Templars have beaten the Eagles the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Eagles has come to flipping the script.

Kellen Lund was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Lund was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Gregg Powell and Zach Blackham did most of the damage at the plate: Powell went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Blackham got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four RBI and one run. Durke Larsen was another key player, earning one RBI, two runs, and two stolen bases.

Meanwhile, Summit Academy had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They had just enough and edged out Judge Memorial Catholic 4-2.

The team relied heavily on Trace Gedicks, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Everything went Manti's way against Summit Academy in their previous meeting back in March of 2021, as Manti made off with an 11-3 win. Do the Templars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bears turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
