The Mount Carmel Tornadoes will square off against the Midd-West Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mount Carmel has four straight victories, Midd-West has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Mount Carmel's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over Berwick. Considering the Tornadoes have won 11 contests by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Aidan Brokenshire made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gabe Yuskoski, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Lukas Carpenter was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Mount Carmel was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .538. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .435 or higher in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Midd-West suffered their biggest defeat since March 26th on Friday. They came up short against South Williamsport, falling 8-1.
Midd-West saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colton Aumiller, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Midd-West's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Mount Carmel, their win bumped their record up to 14-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Mount Carmel has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Midd-West struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Mount Carmel came out on top in a nail-biter against Midd-West when the teams last played back in April, sneaking past 6-4. Do the Tornadoes have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
