Softball Recap: Cottonwood Comes Up Short

Cottonwood extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 4-11 in the process. They lost 20-2 to the Hillcrest Huskies. That's two games in a row now that the Colts have lost by exactly 18 runs.

Tialer Mounts made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Breeya Busey, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI.

As for Hillcrest, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-8. The result was nothing new for the Huskies, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.

On Hillcrest's side, they got a massive performance out of Bailey Terry, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, four stolen bases, and three runs. Those four stolen bases gave Terry a new career-high. Savil Hughes was another key player, going 4-for-5 with four stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cottonwood will head out to take on Granger at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Colts are facing the Lancers at the right time seeing as the Lancers are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Hillcrest, they are taking a road trip to face off against Kearns at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Cougars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.88 runs per game on average), something the Huskies will no doubt try to take advantage of.
