Volleyball Game Preview: Montpelier Locomotives vs. Tinora Rams

After both having extra time off, the Montpelier Locomotives and the Tinora Rams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Montpelier has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with three straight defeats, while Tinora will come in with six straight wins.

On Thursday, Montpelier came up short against Holgate and fell 3-1.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 17-25, 25-19, 25-13.

Meanwhile, Tinora got the win against Edgerton on Thursday by a conclusive 3-0.

The final score came out to 25-15, 25-10, 25-17.

Montpelier's loss dropped their record down to 3-18. As for Tinora, their victory bumped their record up to 20-2.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's match: Montpelier has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 5.6 aces per game. However, it's not like Tinora struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.6 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Montpelier suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Tinora when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Locomotives avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
