Basketball Game Preview: Oak Ridge Blue Jays vs. Scott County Central Braves

The Oak Ridge Blue Jays will be taking part in a tournament against the Scott County Central Braves at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. Oak Ridge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.5 points per game this season.

Oak Ridge is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Chaffee just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 54-39 bruising from the Red Devils.

Defeat or not, Oak Ridge got some senior leadership from Reagan Howe and Madyson Ruehling. Howe dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds, while Ruehling dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 boards. Howe is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaelyn Deckerd, who posted nine points.

Even though they lost, Oak Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Scott County Central beat Scott City 51-45 on Saturday.

Oak Ridge's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-8. As for Scott County Central, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-7.

Oak Ridge strolled past Scott County Central in their previous matchup last Wednesday by a score of 63-46. Does Oak Ridge have another victory up their sleeve, or will Scott County Central turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
