Softball Recap: Northern Potter Beats Smethport for Their Fourth Straight Win

Northern Potter had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Smethport Hubbers with a sharp 23-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.

Kayla Hyde was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her eight plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Zoe White was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (four). Izzy Prince was another key player, going 4-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Northern Potter's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.3 runs over those games. As for Smethport, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Northern Potter has already played their next match (against Oswayo Valley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Smethport also has no score uploaded for their next contest, this one against Williamson.
