Softball Preview: Gilman Pirates vs. Neillsville/Granton Warriors

After four games on the road, Gilman is heading back home. They will take on the Neillsville/Granton Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Gilman is hoping to deliver their fans another blowout on Tuesday, just like they did against Columbus Catholic (and have done all season long). Gilman blew past Columbus Catholic 16-1. The high-scoring effort was just what Gilman needed considering they were shutout in their previous match.

Meanwhile, Neillsville/Granton scored the most runs they've had all season to find success on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 19-4 margin over Owen-Withee. Winning may never get old, but Neillsville/Granton sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.

Klarissa Canfield made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Canfield was even better at the plate, going 3-for-3 with three RBI and a double. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now hit three or more in the last three games she's played.

In other batting news, Neillsville/Granton got a massive performance out of Keltie Schoen, who went 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Schoen continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Shylah Walk, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.

The win got Gilman back to even at 5-5. As for Neillsville/Granton, they pushed their record up to 5-7 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.

Everything went Gilman's way against Neillsville/Granton in their previous meeting back in May of 2018 as Gilman made off with a 10-4 win. Will Gilman repeat their success, or does Neillsville/Granton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
