Preview: Pine Lake Prep Pride vs. Corvian Community Cardinals
The Pine Lake Prep Pride will head out on the road to face off against the Corvian Community Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pine Lake Prep will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Even though Carver scored an imposing 44 points on Friday, Pine Lake Prep still came out on top. Pine Lake Prep enjoyed a cozy 60-44 win over Carver. Pine Lake Prep pushed the score to 60-28 by the end of the third, a deficit Carver cut but never quite recovered from.
Gabe Bolivar continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 416 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 11.2 yards per carry. Bolivar's longest rush was for an incredible 90 yards. Mikhail Massey made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Carver to a paltry 62 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Pine Lake Prep's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out four times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Ryan Connotillo and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Corvian Community came up short against Carver two weeks ago and fell 26-14. Corvian Community gained 64 more yards on the day, but it was Carver that made the best of use of them.
Pine Lake Prep's victory bumped their season record to 7-1 while Corvian Community's defeat dropped theirs to 4-4.
