Preview: Bonney Lake Panthers vs. Rogers Rams

Bonney Lake has been on the road for two straight, but on Saturday they'll finally head home. They will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Rogers Rams at 3:00 p.m. Hopefully Bonney Lake is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Rogers in Washington (Bonney Lake is ranked 14th, while Rogers is ranked 118th).

Last Thursday, Bonney Lake was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 47-43 to Sumner. Bonney Lake has not had much luck with Sumner recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Bonney Lake's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jazmyn Shipp, who scored 23 points along with five rebounds, and Azy Jackson who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Jackson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, Rogers scored the most points they've had all season to find success last Wednesday. They blew past Wenatchee 48-22. That 48-22 margin sets a new team best for Rogers this season.

Bonney Lake's loss dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Rogers, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-2.

Bonney Lake came out on top in a nail-biter against Rogers when the teams last played back in November of 2022, sneaking past 22-19. Will Bonney Lake repeat their success, or does Rogers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
