Softball Recap: Eagle Mountain Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

Eagle Mountain had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Bridgeport Bulls a 17-0 shutout. With that win, the Knights brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Ashlyn Eggleton was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Eagle Mountain got a massive performance out of Zoe Hawthorne, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most RBI Hawthorne has posted since back in February. Olivia Wilson was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, three runs, and one RBI.

Eagle Mountain always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .769. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Eagle Mountain pushed their record up to 12-11-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.4 runs on average over those games. As for Bridgeport, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-16 record this season.
