Basketball Recap: Clarion Area Comes Up Short

After flying high against Clarion-Limestone last Wednesday, Clarion Area came back down to earth. The Clarion Area Bobcats took a 54-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Brookville Raiders on Saturday. The Bobcats were not able to make up for their defeat to the Raiders from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Clarion Area still got an impressive performance from Dylan Smail, who posted 15 points. Nathan Frederick was another key player, putting up ten points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Brookville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kellan Haines, who almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds. The match was Haines' third in a row with at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gage Miller, who put up ten points and eight boards.

Clarion Area's loss dropped their record down to 13-4. As for Brookville, their win bumped their record up to 11-5.

Clarion Area has already played their next game, a 70-69 defeat against Karns City on the 3rd. As for Brookville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 74-68 loss against Elk County Catholic on the 4th.
