Basketball Recap: Will Dabbs' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Providence Grove over Southwestern Randolph

Providence Grove was the 52-48 winner over Southwestern Randolph when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Providence Grove Patriots fell to the Southwestern Randolph Cougars 58-53.

Several Patriots players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Will Dabbs, who posted 26 points and five boards. That was a full 49.1% of Providence Grove's points, marking the third time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Thomas, who went 8 for 16 en route to 19 points.

Providence Grove now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Southwestern Randolph, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-12.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Providence Grove will square off against Trinity at 7:30 p.m. on February 4th. As for Southwestern Randolph, they and South Stanly will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played. South Stanly will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Southwestern Randolph surely won't give up without a fight.
