Basketball Recap: Camelback Spartans vs. Maryvale Panthers
If Camelback was riding high fresh off their 101-79 takedown of South Mountain last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Camelback Spartans fell to the Maryvale Panthers 77-73. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 81-70 back in January.
Camelback's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kemahn Knight, who went 7 for 17 on his way to 16 points and seven rebounds. That's the most boards Knight has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Jaylin Ideran, who went 7 of 13 to rack up 15 points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Camelback smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.
Adrian Stubbs was his usual excellent self, going 18 for 30 en route to 44 points along with eight boards and three steals for Maryvale. Stubbs' evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Devin Murphy, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 20 rebounds.
Camelback's defeat dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Maryvale, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season.
