Softball Game Preview: Carlisle Indians vs. Beckville Bearcats

Carlisle is 0-7 against Beckville since March of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. Carlisle will be playing at home against Beckville at 5:30 p.m. Carlisle has given up an average of 16.7 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Carlisle is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 24th straight game dating back to last season on Saturday. They came up short against Union Grove, falling 21-3.

Carlisle saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kasey Hart, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits Hart has posted since back in April of 2024. Xoie Baggerly also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Even though they lost, Carlisle was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Beckville came tearing into Friday's match with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Yellowjackets an 18-0 shutout. Give the Bearcats' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's fourth straight shutout.

Beckville's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-7-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.3 runs over those games. As for Carlisle, their loss dropped their record down to 0-19.
