Basketball Recap: Buchtel Comes Up Short

Buchtel lost against Norwayne back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Buchtel Griffins took a blow against the Norwayne Bobcats, falling 63-15. While losing is never fun, the Griffins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 578th, while the Bobcats are ranked 165th).

When it comes to explaining why Buchtel lost, don't look at Myah Clark. Despite the final result, she posted seven points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Norwayne to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ava Maibach, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. That's the most boards Maibach has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Allie Demassimo, who earned 13 points and four steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Buchtel and nudges their season record down to 3-11. As for Norwayne, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.

Buchtel will challenge Garfield Community Learning Center at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Garfield Community Learning Center will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Buchtel surely won't give up without a fight. Norwayne has already played their next game (against Chippewa), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
