Softball Recap: Highlands Sets Scoring Season-High Against Bellevue

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Highlands). Everything went their way against the Bellevue Tigers on Wednesday as they made off with a 19-3 victory. The win continues a trend for the Bluebirds in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won seven in a row.

Kaitlyn Dixon was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-1. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Pompilio, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Highlands always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .688. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Highlands pushed their record up to 14-5-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Bellevue, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Highlands will host New Richmond at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bluebirds' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season. As for Bellevue, they will head out on the road to take on Newport at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 21.71 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
