Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Millard). They were the clear victors by a 25-8 margin over the North Sevier Wolves on Tuesday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.
Macie Wade spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Emily Stephenson was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Jansie Chlarson was another key player, scoring five runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.
Stephenson wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Millard kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. Millard is a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
The victory was the fourth in a row for Millard, bringing their record up to 7-6. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to strikeouts: they averaged an imposing 6.75 strikeouts in those games compared to only 2.44 in the others. As for North Sevier, they dropped their record down to 3-2 with the loss, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.
