Basketball Recap: Foster Takes a Loss

Foster and Jordan squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Foster had to settle for second. They fell 61-53 to the Jordan Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 286th, while the Warriors are ranked 13th).

When it comes to explaining why Foster lost, don't look at Jaron Martin. Despite the final result, he went 8-for-14 on his way to 17 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. Martin is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last five games he's played. Jalen Stephanson was another key player, putting up 11 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Foster and nudges their season record down to 16-13. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.5 points over those games. As for Jordan, their win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 31-3.

Foster does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Jordan, they will challenge Cypress Falls on Friday. Jordan knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matches -- so hopefully Cypress Falls likes a good challenge.
