Preview: Bloomfield Warhawks vs. Cromwell/Portland Panthers

The Bloomfield Warhawks will take on the Cromwell/Portland Panthers at TBD on Saturday. The pair have allowed few points on average, (Bloomfield: 14.3, Cromwell/Portland: 13.8) so any points scored will be well earned.

Bloomfield had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They secured a 20-14 W over Notre Dame Catholic on Sunday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Bloomfield.

Bloomfield's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Davien Kerr, who rushed for 120 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries, and Davion Kerr, who gained 130 total yards and two touchdowns. Kerr hasn't dropped below sixsolo tackles for three straight games.

The team's defense also helped out by holding Notre Dame Catholic to a paltry 181 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Bloomfield's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out five times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Kerr and his 3.5 sacks.

Meanwhile, Cromwell/Portland can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Sunday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 28-0 victory over Ansonia. The victory was familiar territory for Cromwell/Portland who now have five in a row.

Their wins bumped Bloomfield to 10-1 and Notre Dame Catholic to 9-3.

Bloomfield lost to Cromwell/Portland on the road by a decisive 21-6 margin when the teams last played back in December of 2021. Thankfully for Bloomfield, Teddy Williams (who picked up 96 receiving yards and a touchdown) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
