Softball Recap: Los Altos Takes a Loss

Los Altos saw some tournament action on Saturday. They fell just short of the Dana Hills Dolphins by a score of 5-4. The Conquerors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Devany Alferez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Hannah Vargas was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Maya Ruiz was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Los Altos' defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Dana Hills, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

Looking ahead, Los Altos will take on Fullerton at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Los Altos 3.2, Fullerton 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Dana Hills, they will head out to take on Tesoro at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games Tesoro has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
