Softball Recap: Vicksburg Comes Up Short

After flying high against Three Rivers on Wednesday, Vicksburg came back down to earth. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 7-6 on Wednesday. The Bulldogs' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Allison Truckey was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she tossed 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lena Lancaster made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Grace Zimmerman was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Vicksburg's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Three Rivers, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Vicksburg will host Hopkins at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Three Rivers, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Paw Paw at 4:00 p.m.
