Football Game Preview: Riverdale Warriors vs. Oakland Patriots + Official Tickets

Riverdale hasn't had much luck against Oakland recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Warriors will square off against the Patriots at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Riverdale sitting on six straight victories and Oakland on 15 (dating back to last season).

On Friday, Riverdale strolled past Rockvale with points to spare, taking the game 28-14. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 21st, while Rockvale are ranked 85th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Riverdale found their leader in sophomore Gavin Hampton, who threw for 208 yards and three touchdowns. Hampton has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last four times he's played.

Meanwhile, Oakland got themselves on the board against Stewarts Creek on Friday, but Stewarts Creek never followed suit. They blew past the Red Hawks 49-0. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by 21 points or more this season.

Oakland's win bumped their record up to 9-0. As for Riverdale, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.

Riverdale couldn't quite finish off Oakland in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 and fell 49-46. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
