Baseball Recap: Jersey Shore Gets the Win

Jersey Shore won against Columbia Montour Vo-Tech last Monday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. Jersey Shore won by a run and slipped past the Wellsboro Hornets 10-9. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now won six in a row.

Hunter Enders was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-5.

In other pitching news, Nolen Pauling looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single hit any time he's pitched this season.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Collin Berguson, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Landyn Rhea, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with one RBI.

Jersey Shore kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Jersey Shore's record is now 3-0. As for Wellsboro, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Looking ahead, Jersey Shore will take on South Williamsport at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Wellsboro, they will face off against Wyalusing Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wyalusing Valley has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.67 runs per game on average), something Wellsboro will no doubt try to take advantage of.
