Softball Game Preview: Janesville Parker Vikings vs. Beloit Memorial Purple Knights

Janesville Parker and Beloit Memorial are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2017, but likely not for long. The Vikings are taking a road trip to take on the Purple Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Janesville Parker will be strutting in after a victory while Beloit Memorial will be coming in after a loss.

Janesville Parker was handed a 12-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Vel Phillips Memorial 8-6.

Lilly Keller made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off nine hits. Keller was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kenedi Pryne, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Delaney King was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Beloit Memorial lost 16-3 to Union Grove on Tuesday. The Purple Knights haven't had much luck with the Broncos recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Jasmine Smith was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Janesville Parker's record is now 6-10. As for Beloit Memorial, their loss dropped their record down to 5-12.
