Basketball Recap: Master's Hand Christian Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Jackson Nelson and Braedon Canuteson

Master's Hand Christian has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a hard 74-57 fall against the Brooklane Baptist Eagles on Thursday. The Warriors were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 69-56.

Braedon Canuteson and Jackson Nelson certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Canuteson dropped a double-double on 12 points and 17 boards, while Nelson went 5 of 10 on his way to 15 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Nelson a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Minor, who posted ten points.

Master's Hand Christian's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Brooklane Baptist, their victory bumped their record up to 7-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Master's Hand Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Mt. Pleasant Christian at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Mt. Pleasant Christian will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Master's Hand Christian surely won't give up without a fight. As for Brooklane Baptist, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against First Assembly Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
