Softball Game Preview: Grenada Chargers vs. Neshoba Central Rockets

For the second straight game, Grenada will face off against Neshoba Central. The Chargers will welcome the Rockets at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Grenada is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

Grenada heads in on the heels of a playoff match on Thursday. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Neshoba Central. The Chargers have struggled against the Rockets recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Mary Taylour Wilbourn put in work no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Olivia Lashley made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

The win (which was Neshoba Central's eighth in a row) raised their record to 21-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Grenada, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-10.
