Recap: Corinth Holders Pirates vs. Vance County Vipers
The Corinth Holders Pirates pushed their score all the way to 57 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Vance County by a score of 59-57.
Corinth Holders' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Evan Smith, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds, and Rocco Mazzeo who scored 13 points. Those nine rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Tyler Sandaire was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Even though they lost, Corinth Holders were working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Vance County only posted six assists.
Vance County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tyshawn Alston, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. Alston continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Khaleel Harvey, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Corinth Holders' loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Vance County, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-5.
