Preview: Frost Polar Bears vs. Rio Vista Eagles
Frost has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Rio Vista Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Last Friday, Frost lost to Itasca at home by a decisive 50-35 margin. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Frost in their matchups with Itasca: they've now lost five in a row.
In what's become a running theme this season, Rio Vista gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They blew past Valley Mills, posting a 64-36 win on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Rio Vista has posted since December 16, 2023.
Filippo Bencetti was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 13 assists. He hasn't dropped below two steals for 13 straight games. Another player making a difference was Dawson Macklin, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
Frost has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season. As for Rio Vista, they now have a winning record of 13-12.
Frost might still be hurting after the 60-35 defeat they got from Rio Vista when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Frost avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
