Volleyball Recap: Pius X Takes a Loss

Pius X lost against Elkhorn North back in September and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Thunderbolts fell 2-0 to the Wolves.

The final score came out to 25-16, 25-19.

Ava Markowski paced Pius X's offense, picking up four kills. Markowski got some help from Lauren Pearson and her nine assists. Markowski also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Whitney Mertens, each putting up two.

Elkhorn North's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reese Wallraff, who had seven digs and two aces.

Pius X has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 18-15 record this season. As for Elkhorn North, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 24-6.

Pius X has already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss against Lincoln Southwest on the 18th. As for Elkhorn North, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Omaha Westside on the 18th.
