Basketball Recap: Nipomo Comes Up Short

Nipomo had lost seven straight at home dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped down to 0-2 to make it eight. They were outmatched by the Santa Ynez Pirates and fell 70-37. The Titans were not able to make up for their defeat to the Pirates from their previous meeting back in January.

As for Santa Ynez, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. 70 seems to be a good number for them as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

Santa Ynez's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lucas Ollenburger, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jude Pritchard, who went 6-for-10 on his way to 14 points.

Looking ahead, Nipomo will look to defend their home court on Saturday against San Luis Obispo Classical Academy at 5:00 p.m. As for Santa Ynez, they will venture away from home to square off against Mission College Prep at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
