Softball Recap: Wildwood Wildcats vs. First Academy Eagles
Wildwood had lost five straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 3-14 to make it six. They lost 15-4 to the First Academy Eagles. The Wildcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 0-0.
Kalliyah Corbin was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
As for First Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season. The result was nothing new for First Academy, who have now won seven games by nine runs or more so far this season.
On First Academy's side, Claire Carlton was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most stolen bases Carlton has posted since back in April of 2024. Avery Keller was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
Looking ahead, Wildwood will take on Meadowbrook Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for First Academy, they will square off against Hernando Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 21.23 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
