            Baseball Preview: South Laurel Cardinals vs. Prestonsburg Blackcats        
        
		
        
        
            The South Laurel Cardinals will square off against the Prestonsburg Blackcats at 12:00  p.m.  on Saturday. Prestonsburg took a loss in their last  match and will be looking to turn the tables on South Laurel, who comes in off a win.
Last Tuesday,  everything went South Laurel's way against Harlan as South Laurel made off with  a  10-2 victory.
 Jacob Culler looked comfortable as he  pitched two innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit.
 On the hitting side,  the team  relied heavily on  Austin Byrd, who  scored two  runs and  stole a base while  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was  Tyler Curry, who  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Prestonsburg unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took  a  4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Perry County Central on Monday. The  defeat was just more heartbreak for the Blackcats who fell  3-1 when the teams previously met back in March of 2024.
 Prestonsburg saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Brayden Tussey, who  got on base  in all three of his plate appearances with one  double.
 South Laurel came out on top in a nail-biter against Prestonsburg in their previous matchup  back in April of 2024, sneaking past  3-2. Will South Laurel repeat their success,  or does  Prestonsburg have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
