Baseball Game Preview: Northampton Yellowjackets vs. Mathews Blue Devils

The Northampton Yellowjackets will face off against the Mathews Blue Devils at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Northampton and three for Mathews.

On Thursday, Northampton didn't have quite enough to beat Chincoteague and fell 5-4.

Hayden Seay was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Seay was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season.

Seay wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Lucas Kindt, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Mathews couldn't beat Middlesex on Thursday even though they stacked six runs on them in the fifth inning. The Blue Devils came up short against the Chargers, falling 16-6.

Mathews' loss dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Northampton, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.

Northampton beat Mathews 16-12 when the teams last played two weeks ago. Do the Yellowjackets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
