Basketball Game Preview: Oxbridge Academy ThunderWolves vs. Avant Garde Academy Sharks

The Oxbridge Academy ThunderWolves just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Avant Garde Academy Sharks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing isn't great for Oxbridge Academy: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home, while Avant Garde Academy has snatched up five consecutive wins on the road.

On Wednesday, Oxbridge Academy came up short against Tradition Prep and fell 73-66. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (63), the ThunderWolves still had to take the loss.

The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Jayden St. Fort and Avery Johnson. Johnson had a solid game and went 8 for 15 en route to 19 points. Meanwhile, St. Fort did his best for the losing side, going 7 of 13 on his way to 17 points.

Meanwhile, Avant Garde Academy earned a 48-35 win over Franklin Academy on Monday.

Oxbridge Academy better focus on containing Nikko Andino and Sergei Mikhalev as the pair were huge in Avant Garde Academy's win. Andino went 7 for 16 en route to 16 points along with eight rebounds and five steals, while Mikhalev went 8 of 13 on his way to 17 points in addition to eight boards and six steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Mikhalev has scored at least a third of Avant Garde Academy's points. Landon Guzman was another key player, putting up seven points and five assists.

Avant Garde Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Franklin Academy only pulled down eight offensive rebounds.

Avant Garde Academy is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.6 points per game. As for Oxbridge Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.
