Basketball Recap: Winslow Falls Despite Big Games from Kaitlyn Belone and Taylin Puhuhefvaya

Winslow lost against Snowflake back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Winslow Bulldogs came up short against the Snowflake Lobos, falling 56-33. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 147th, while the Lobos are ranked 13th).

Winslow's loss came despite strong showings from Taylin Puhuhefvaya and Kaitlyn Belone. Puhuhefvaya posted 11 points, while Belone earned ten points. Puhuhefvaya has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times she's played.

Winslow dropped their record down to 4-17 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road. Their recent woes sure aren't a result of their performance when it comes to assists: they averaged an imposing 6.67 assists in those games compared to only 6.67 in the others. As for Snowflake, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 22-4.

Winslow has already played their next game, a 51-36 victory against Blue Ridge on the 31st. As for Snowflake, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 64-46 win against Holbrook on the 31st.
