Baseball Recap: Big Spring Takes a Loss

Pecos hit Big Spring with a four-run fourth inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Steers took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. The Steers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 14-11.

RJ Gomez made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played.

This is the second loss in a row for Big Spring and nudges their season record down to 6-11-1. As for Pecos, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-10.

Coming up, Big Spring will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Idalou at 3:00 p.m. As for Pecos, they will face off against Non Varsity Opponent at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
