Softball Game Preview: Chino Cowboys vs. Montclair Cavaliers

For the second straight game, Chino will face off against Montclair. The Cowboys will venture away from home to challenge the Cavaliers at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

On Monday, Chino got the win against Montclair by a conclusive 14-6. The win continues a trend for the Cowboys in their matchups with the Cavaliers: they've now won three in a row.

Kristine Lancaster spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on 14 hits.

On the hitting side, Chino let Melody Stark and Samantha Juarez run wild. Stark went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Juarez went 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits Juarez has posted over her last eight contests. Marissa Quintero was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Chino kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive matches.

Chino's victory bumped their record up to 10-11. As for Montclair, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-13.

Montclair's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Chino has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.3 hits per game. It's a different story for Montclair, though, as they've been averaging 10.6 hits. Given Chino's sizable advantage in that area, the Cavaliers will need to find a way to close that gap.
