Softball Recap: Neshannock Lancers vs. Burgettstown Blue Devils

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Neshannock walked away with it. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Burgettstown Blue Devils a 15-0 shutout on Thursday. Considering the Lancers have won 15 matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Addy Frye made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, Miley Anderson was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two triples, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Gianna DeSalvo was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.

Neshannock kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in seven consecutive games.
