West Haven extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping their season record down to 3-8 in the process. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Guilford Grizzlies. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Grizzlies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 21-3 back in April.

As for Guilford, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games.

For Guilford's part, Sarah O'Brien spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ella Munson, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Kennadie Tansey also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Coming up, West Haven will square off against Sacred Heart Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Guilford, they will face off against Hand at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
