Softball Recap: Buena Drops Highest Score of Season Against Nogales

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Buena). Everything went their way against the Nogales Apaches on Thursday as they made off with a 22-2 win. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Colts with their most commanding win of the season.

Ariella Antemann was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Amaya Serrano was a standout: she scored three runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Morgan Smith, who went 2-for-4 with four runs and four RBI.

Buena always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .628. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Buena's victory ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-16. As for Nogales, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.

Buena will be playing in front of their home fans against Pueblo at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Colts are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Nogales, they are taking a road trip to challenge Desert View at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
