The Colony Titans will face off against the Los Altos Conquerors at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Colony is coming into the contest hot, having won their last ten games.
On Saturday, Colony beat Beaumont 5-2.
Steven Gonzales looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ricardo Zazueta, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Adrian Sifuentes, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Colony was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Los Altos can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They came out on top against Woodbridge by a score of 4-1.
Christian Ramirez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits. He is becoming a predictor of Los Altos' success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 3-1-1 (and 2-10 when he doesn't).
On the hitting side, Nathan Barrera was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Either Diaz, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Colony's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Los Altos, their win bumped their record up to 5-11-1.
Los Altos' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Colony hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .330. It's a different story for Los Altos, though, as they've only averaged .234. Will they be able to contain Colony's hitters?
