Baseball Game Preview: Magee Trojans vs. Richland Rangers

The Magee Trojans will head out to square off against the Richland Rangers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Magee's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Richland's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Magee's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Friday's struggle, when Taylorsville hitters got past them. Magee lost 10-3 to Taylorsville on Friday. The Trojans have struggled against the Tartars recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Magee saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Justin Floyd, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Richland came up short against Lawrence County on Friday, falling 17-9.

Noah Aldridge was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Dylan Hudson also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Richland's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-7. As for Magee, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.

Magee couldn't quite finish off Richland in their previous matchup back in March of 2022 and fell 10-8. Can Magee avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
